Values/Philosophy

Why I Do This Work (And How I Do It)

I've spent a lot of time clarifying why I do this work and how to do it with integrity and in alignment with my values. Honestly? It's constantly evolving. What you'll read here isn't a fixed manifesto—it's where I'm at right now in my ongoing commitment to building something that actually reflects what I believe.

Why Voice Work?

Our voice is our secret weapon. It’s something we use every single day, yet we rarely think about how it’s been shaped—by our families, schools, workplaces, culture, and the systems that benefit from our silence. I use voicework as a doorway into uncovering these patterns of silencing and exploring what authentic expression actually feels like. More than just vocal technique, more than just an embodiment practice, voicework becomes a pathway to reclaiming our power and speaking with confidence—in our lives, our communities, and within systems that prefer our quiet cooperation. The same tools that help us manage our nerves when we sing—breath, presence, nervous system regulation—become the foundation for speaking up when it matters most.

My Values and Vision

At the heart of my work is a simple truth: I don't want to keep you tethered to me forever. I want you to outgrow me. My role isn't to be your permanent source of motivation or keep you circling in my orbit. My goal is to give you real tools, practices, and insights so you can stand in your own power, move with confidence, and create the life that calls to you—with or without me.

I believe healing, growth, and empowerment should never be about dependency. They should be about liberation.

Working Within—and Against—Capitalism

Yes, I charge for my work—I live under capitalism and need to survive. But I refuse to exploit people's pain for profit or design systems that extract maximum revenue while delivering minimum support. That means no high-pressure sales tactics, manufactured scarcity, or manipulative funnels designed to keep you buying the next thing. What I do offer is a natural progression: you can start with smaller commitments to see if we're a good fit, then choose to go deeper if the work resonates. I want you to make decisions based on actual experience with my work.

My work is grounded in accessibility, transparency, and choice—not extraction. I don't believe in hustle culture or measuring worth solely in money (though I still struggle with this!)  My intention is to centre empowerment, cooperation, and reimagining value beyond capitalism's narrow definitions.

After years of unconsciously exploiting myself, I'm now working to honour the time, energy, and emotional labour this work requires. Emotional labour—so often expected for free from women—is real labour, has value, and deserves compensation. I want my work to benefit both the people I serve and me: a reciprocal exchange where both sides are nourished, respected, and supported.

Who This Work Is For

This work is especially powerful for white women who want to move beyond performative allyship but struggle with when and how to use their voices in service of justice. I come to this work as a white woman myself—one raised to be a peacemaker, to smooth things over, to keep others comfortable.

Through my 30+ year interracial marriage, my mother-in-law's activism for Indigenous women's rights, and my own ongoing learning, I've come to understand how white women's socialized niceness and silence upholds systems of oppression. My work helps white women develop the embodied capacity to speak up when it matters and sit with discomfort when it's time to listen—moving from complicity to genuine solidarity.

How These Values Show Up

These principles guide everything about how I run my business, including how I handle money. You can learn more about my approach to pricing, payment options, and financial transparency on my Financial Accessibility Policies page.
